Teachers Health Trust (THT), the nonprofit health insurance plan for educators in Clark County, will expand its autism care services to make diagnosis and therapy more accessible to its members and their families.

This program is aimed at teachers with children or dependents who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The majority of educators are indeed parents, so the intention is to assist families in obtaining prompt, structured care for their children.

THT has stated its aim is to eliminate delays in the time from when autism care has been requested, accessed, and paid for to when treatment has actually been provided.

Faster Access to Autism Diagnosis and Therapy Services

THT offers ABA therapy for children with autism through partnerships with providers such as Nevada Autism Center.

Its services are both home-based and clinic-based in Las Vegas. Care is personalized to each child’s needs, rather than applying a single program to all.

Many families find the first step in the process to be the most daunting, especially when it comes to deciphering which supports are available and how to access them.

One parent explained what their experience was like when they first set foot in the program: “At first, we didn’t know where to go or what to do. Once we got connected, things became clearer, and my child finally had consistent support.”

Lower Costs and More Predictable Coverage

The program changes how families pay for autism therapy.

Rather than monthly bills, THT has a sort of payment plan based on therapy hours, so families know more and can plan for future expenses. Also, for Treatment, the wait times are shorter to help facilitate early interventions.

The goal is to make autism care more reliable, structured, and easier to navigate from start to finish.
