The children you refer to Nevada Autism Center (Las Vegas) will undergo assessment from certified professionals who can identify skill deficits using a wide variety of science-based evaluations.

Some of the most popular assessments used by our BCBAs include the ABLLS, VB-MAPP, and the AFLS. Each is an evidence-based assessment with supporting research demonstrating the efficacy and reliability of each evaluation. Here is a little more information about the evaluations done at Nevada Autism Center:

  • ABLLS – Assessment of Basic Language and Living Skills

The ABLLS is aimed to identify skills and skill deficits that are typically present in children by the time they reach Kindergarten. It consists of 544 skills from 25 skill sets including language, social interaction, self-help, academic, and motor skills. This test is typically used to identify deficits in language and social skills in younger children ages 2 through 6 and older kids ages 7-8 years.

  • VB-MAPP- Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program

The VB-Mapp is like the ABLLS, but the VB-MAPP can additionally assess problem behaviors. This assessment is criterion-referenced and focuses on skills present in typically developing children. The VB-MAPP has 5 components to it and can be used to form IEP goals and selecting appropriate intervention methods.

  • AFLS- Assessment of Functional Living Skills

The AFLS assessment examines functional living skills in 6 categories that typically developing children can perform by a given age. The six assessment protocols are Basic Living Skills, Home Skills, Community Participation Skills, School Skills, Independent Living Skills, and Vocational Skills. The AFLS is best suited to older children (16 and up) who need to shift their focus from academics to independent or semi-independent life involving job interviews, cooking, and cleaning.

We implore you to place your trust in our trained professionals who want the best for the children and the families our center serves. Our mission is to put children and their needs first, with less focus on billing and insurance so children receive the services they need when they need them!
