April is Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month, and the Golden Knights plan on honoring and recognizing this fact during Fan Appreciation Week. The Vegas Golden Knights are a hockey team that plays in the NHL. The team won the Stanley Cup in 2022-23.
Fan Appreciation Week is being presented by Zoox. The event plans on recognizing and thanking the many sports fans who made the 2024-25 season possible. Fan Week will go on for eight days and will include giveaways, watch parties, new team content, new retail items, discounts, and special community events.
The upcoming schedule lists Autism Awareness Knight will be held on Thursday, April 10. This event is being presented by Lee’s Discount Liquor and will be held at T-Mobile Arena. Faceoff will begin at 7 P.M. PT.
During the event, special guests will be recognized and honored including representatives from the Grant A Gift Autism Foundation – Ackerman Center and Best Buddies.
Autism Awareness Knight jerseys signed by players will also be available for auction. The jerseys will include an exclusive logo of the gold infinity symbol on a light blue background. Merchandise with the same logo will be available for $25 on the concourse at the game. A portion of the proceeds of this auction will go to the Grant A Gift Autism Foundation – Ackerman Center and Best Buddies.
One amazing feature of the T-Mobile Arena that you may not know about is that Sensory Kits are available at every game. These kits, which are massively beneficial for autistic individuals, include noise-canceling headphones, identification tags, feeling thermometer cards, and fidget tools. Together, these tools not only make autistic individuals more comfortable but also increases awareness for other guests and staff members. The kits can be checked out at Guest Services. Individuals who also need a quieter and more secure environment can watch from two Sensory Pods that are near Sections 13 and 216.
This special event is only one of the many events planned throughout the week. The following day, select locations will get a special visit from members of the Las Vegas Police Department, Clark County Fire Department, and local nonprofits.
Are You Looking for Additional Autism Support in Vegas?
Sensory kits are a great feature within the T-Mobile Arena. When your autistic child is comfortable, it can help them thrive even in uncertain environments. Here at the Nevada Autism Center, we want to help empower your child by equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to become more independent, cope with social environments, and grow at their own pace and style.
Our goal is to help your child rely less on maladaptive behaviors and focus more on prosocial coping mechanisms. We want to help your child through the use of ABA therapy, social group sessions, positive reinforcement, and modeling behaviors. Ideally, we’ll help your child be more successful in school settings, in groups, and at home.
Start your journey with us now by filling out our enrollment form to get in touch about your child’s needs and our services.
