What began as a small traditional event in southern California has now blossomed into one of the most exciting and rewarding autism awareness and support events nationwide. The Ante Up for Autism is a charitable club that plans & holds events for the good cause of creating awareness and supporting Autism families across the country.
About Ante up for Autism
At its core, Ante Up for Autism is a poker tournament; participants play against each other to win a prize of their choice. But what makes this event so unique and meaningful is that the proceeds from the event will be used to support autism-related charities and organizations. The tournament also offers participants the chance to meet with other families affected by autism to build a sense of community and support.
Ever since its inception 15 years ago as a fundraiser for Autism, It has generated a sum of seven million dollars, now. The money raised has served to fund research and development, provide much-needed therapy services, provide scholarship funds, and countless other projects to help autistic families.
About this year’s event
This year’s event will be held at the South Point Hotel & Casino on July 29th and 30th. The event would match the event with the summer Las Vegas Market which runs from July 30 to August 1. Great companies have committed their support early, with BIA (Bedding Industries of America) committing to a $15,000 sponsorship. Leggett & Platt, a leader in home furnishings, has also committed $25,000 to the cause. And that’s not all. Several other big names have pledged their support, and the momentum keeps growing. For example, the Furniture First National Buying Group has committed $10,000, whereas PFP, a leading furniture and bedding protector company, has given $2,500.
According to Doug, the tournament’s founder, it’s an honor to see these big companies supporting children, adults, and families affected by autism. “It is truly humbling and gratifying that these companies are willing to give back in such a big way,” he said.
Autism charities receiving the Donation
The donations from the tournament will then support five charities helping thousands of autistic families. The charities receiving donations from the tournament include Autism Speaks, The Hope Fund, the National Autism Association of Southeast Ohio, project FOCUS, & the Rich Center for Autism. These charities serve different purposes, such as research into autism, educational programs and resources, and support services.
