This year’s Annual 98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive has been an absolute success, and the proceeds all went toward HELP of Southern Nevada. From there, the donations were distributed to thousands of local households and families in need.
This fundraising event began collecting donations on December 4th. Collections took place up until December 15th. Within that period, local citizens, businesses, and residents donated over 6,792 bicycles, 40 truckloads of new toys, and $792,430 in monetary donations. A few of the businesses that helped make this local fundraiser a success included:
- Naqvi Injury Law
- Credit One Bank
- Centennial Toyota
- Claggett & Sykes
- Las Vegas Aces
- Terribles
All the toys, money, bikes, and gift cards were given out to 1,554 households in need. They were also given to 116 non-profits, local Southern Nevada churches, and community groups, who also made sure all the donations went to families and children who needed it most.
HELP of Southern Nevada offers holiday assistance as well as many other programs like behavioral health services, homeless response teams, adult housing programs, weatherization services, and more. This assistance is available for low-income families, homeless youth, and other individuals who need direct services. HELP has 9 departments and over 160 employees. Anyone in need of services can contact the organization at (702) 369-4357.
If you felt personally impacted or moved by this story, then don’t feel as if you’ve missed out on your chance to help your community. You can always do your part by participating in next year’s annual toy drive. This year’s event marked the 27th year that the Chet Buchanan Show hosted the Toy Drive, so it’s very likely that the event will kick off again next December.
