The Dinosaur Outpost is like a real-life immersive Jurassic Park experience, bringing life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, erupting volcanoes, and tons of interactive fun to families throughout Las Vegas. This attraction was explicitly designed to help foster connections between parents and children.
Families can experience what it would be like to live in prehistoric times, interact with baby dinosaurs, dig for fossils, race cars, and even ride on Annie, a Pachyrhinosaurus. This attraction is located at 6569 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Suite 173.
Recently, this prehistoric experience became more inclusive and accessible through a partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, earning the Certified Autism Center designation. To achieve this, the Dinosaur Outpost had its staff complete specific autism and sensory training. These training courses helped equip team members with the skills and knowledge they need to support autistic visitors.
The founder of the Dinosaur Outpost, Tim Clothier, is thrilled about his company’s status as a Certified Autism Center. Clothier says that his primary mission has always been to connect families through interactive play, so this recent designation means their facility is equipped to reach even more families. He is very proud of his company’s dedication and his staff members’ efforts to become fully certified.
In addition to specific training, the Dinosaur Outpost will also offer complimentary sensory bags for visitors with sensory processing issues. The prehistoric atmosphere and animatronics can be overwhelming, but the bag provides specific tools to help with that. Inside the bag are noise-reduction headphones, sunglasses, and sensory toys that can help autistic individuals cope with potential sensory overload. While the space isn’t fully built yet, the Dinosaur Outpost is planning to add a quiet space away from the sights and sounds sometime in 2026.
As a result of their efforts, the Dinosaur Outpost will be featured on the IBCCES Accessibility App. This free app provides individuals with disabilities with guidance on destinations that offer sensory-friendly spaces and other accessibility features.
Do You Have a Child with Autism?
Here at the Nevada Autism Center, our team understands the unique challenges families with autistic children face. Sensory-friendly attractions are a valuable resource for families who want an enjoyable experience, but not every business is equipped to meet the unique needs of autistic youth. What’s more, many public spaces are not great environments for autistic individuals who are prone to sensory overload.
One option for families is to enroll their child in ABA therapy. Here at the Nevada Autism Center, we strive to help children with sensory issues and other autism-related struggles find pro-social ways to navigate life’s challenges. We offer individualized therapy, social skills sessions, adaptive skills classes, family guidance, model classrooms, and more. One of our offerings is summer camps that help prepare autistic youth for public school. We accept many insurance plans and are dedicated to helping your child become their most authentic, independent self.
