Love Island fans are encouraging and supporting former star Camilla Thurlow and her family after she revealed that her youngest daughter has been diagnosed with autism.
Camilla Thurlow has been in the spotlight since appearing on the reality TV show ‘Love Island’ back in 2017. While on the show, Camilla met Jamie Jewitt, and the two quickly fell in love.
After appearing on the show, the couple went on to get married and have three beautiful children – two-year-old Nora, four-year-old Nell, and nine-month-old Brodie. Nora, the two-year-old, is the daughter who was recently diagnosed. This diagnosis, however, doesn’t come as a huge shock to the family, who has been documenting the child’s progress since she was born. According to Camilla, she has been concerned about Nora’s progress for a while because her development was much slower than her older sister’s. Camilla noted that it took much longer for Nora to learn to walk and talk than Nell.
This autism diagnosis won’t stop little Nora, though, as her parents are determined to continue praising her strength and determination. Camilla has been very open on social media about her family’s struggles and the challenges of raising an autistic daughter. The former reality TV star admitted that she and Jamie will have to “grow as parents” to help support their daughter through this uncharted territory.
Do You Believe Your Child Might be Autistic
According to the CDC, about one in 36 children in the US are currently diagnosed with autism, but it’s likely that a huge amount of children go undiagnosed each year, too. If you suspect that your child might be on the spectrum, then it’s important to consider getting an assessment and learning more about your support options.
Having your child diagnosed can be a huge game changer because it will help you identify better ways of supporting your child, which will lead to better outcomes overall.
Here at the Nevada Autism Center, our team seeks to empower you and your child to thrive if they’ve been diagnosed with autism in Las Vegas. First, our team will perform an assessment to gauge your child’s strengths, weaknesses, and overall functioning. From there, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan to help your child grow.
Our main focus is to help your child become more independent. We’ll help your child minimize negative maladaptive coping mechanisms and replace them with more pro-social ones. Our in-clinic therapy can also help provide a structured environment full of support and opportunities for social development. Another goal we have is to help equip children with the tools they’ll need to be ready for school.
ABA therapy sessions will be carried out in a one-on-one setting with significant family guidance.
Schedule your child’s autism assessment or get started with our treatment services now by getting in touch with our team about your needs. One of our representatives will reach out to you about your next steps as well as answer any questions you have about our process, treatment options, and methods.
